SUPER LUCAS
In 2017, Alison’s son, Lucas wasn’t even two years old and he was able to identify most of the colors, numbers, and letters. At that moment she knew there was something super about Lucas. Alison also knew there was a deficit in the children’s books written with black children as the main character. In the words of our great ancestor, Toni Morrison, "If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it." In 2021, Super Lucas was written and published. Alison and Lucas’ mission is to encourage every child to use their own super powers to make the word a better place.

Twos with Tootie
In the early hours of the morning, when Aria was an infant, Alison would nurse and recite Phenomenal Woman by Dr. Maya Angelou to Aria. As Aria grew, she would mumble in between nursing and the cadence in her tone would be that of Phenomenal Woman. Alison was finishing up her first children’s book, Super Lucas with her son, Lucas, when she was led to write one with her daughter. Twos with Tootie is a nod to the rhythmic style of poetry and a celebration of all things two for the beloved, Tootie; a nickname given to Aria by her mother, Alison.
